4 Easy Ways To Speed Up Your Directory Submissions

Everyone knows that submitting to free web directories is one of the best ways to get quality, one-way links to your site. Unfortunately, it can take several boring hours of filling out submission forms in order to get all those free links. This article will explore a few tools and tricks that can be helpful in speeding up the submission process.

Manual directory submission services are the best substitute to doing it yourself, but they can also be quite expensive. For webmasters who operate only a handful of sites, benefits outweigh the cost of manual submissions. Unfortunately, those submission costs begin to add up as you build more sites, so a more permanent solution may be a better choice.

If you do opt for a manual submission service, look for one that gives you reports of your submissions and acceptances. Many services do not tell you upfront exactly which directories they will be submitting your site to, so be careful. You don't want to waste your money getting backlinks from worthless directories. Also, there is some speculation that the search engines will penalize you for having links from "bad neighborhoods", so it is probably best to steer clear of questionable directory sites.

Automated submission software can be useful if done properly. These tools make it very easy to submit to several sites quickly, but that also means an incorrect submission may go out to several sites instead of just one. Be extra careful about checking for typos and spelling errors before sending out mass submissions.

Even if you do not have the money to spare on any of these paid submission solutions, there are still a few decent free options that will cut the amount of time it takes to fill out the forms.

If you use Firefox, you can open many tabs in the same browser window. This makes it easy to open several directory sites all at once without cluttering up your desktop with windows. Also, Firefox has a great extension called InFormEnter you can download to help fill-in form fields. It is similar to Roboform, with different profiles and customizable fields.

Roboform is a handy little utility program that can be used for almost any repetitive submission task. They offer a free version that never expires and allows you to save 2 profiles with 3 user-customizable fields. The customized fields are useful to store site descriptions, keywords, and anything else that is likely to be found on the directory submission forms. For only $30, you can upgrade and get an unlimited amount of profiles and user fields.

Always remember to mix up your titles, keywords, and descriptions, regardless of which submission method you choose. The search engines, especially Yahoo!, prefer some variation in the anchor text of your backlinks so that the links look more natural. After all, if people were linking to your site just because they liked the content, they probably wouldn't all use the exact same linking text.

With new directories appearing every day, it looks as though time-consuming directory submissions are here to stay. Webmasters who are able to speed up or automate this process will have a huge time advantage over their competitors. After all, which is a more profitable way to spend your time: Filling out forms or working on your sites?

How To Get Thousands Of Links Pointing To Your Website

Getting links pointing to your website can be a very difficult and time consuming practice especially if your website is brand new. And if you don’t know the proper way to do this effectively it can literally be a major reason why your website fails in getting traffic from search engines. Search engine traffic is one of the most important elements you can do for your website or internet business. Although it takes a lot of trial and error, getting your website listed high in search engine results is what you should strive for.

So what do links have to do with high search engine rankings you might ask? It’s simple. The more links pointing to your website the better rankings your site will get. You see every website that is linked to your site is like a vote of confidence from the owner of that site. Search engines use this as one of the most important factors in determining where a website will be ranked. Links also help you in getting your page rank higher. The more links to your site, the higher the page rank, and the better the rankings.

But links must be relevant to your website theme. For example. If you’re selling eBooks and you have a food website pointing to your site, that is totally irrelevant and some search engines will even penalize you for this. The more relevant links, the better. Search engines also place great importance on text links with keywords in them. Make sure the sites linking to you use text links with a few of your most important keywords as the title. You should be able to go to your site by simply clicking the title. And it would also help if the description underneath the title is the same as the one in your Meta description tag.

Here are 3 easy ways to get great quality links pointing to your website.

1) Visit the top 100 sites in the search engines with your keywords and ask them about a link exchange. These people already have a high page rank so this will really give your site a push.

2) Join some link exchange programs on the internet for free. You can browse sites and request exchanges with sites similar to yours. You can also set the parameters on sites requesting a link exchange from you.

3) Write great quality articles and submit it to article directories on the internet. By writing an article anyone who uses it must also include your author bio below. This could mean thousands of new links.

Linking From High Pagerank Sites the Easy Way

One of the components of getting traffic from the search engines is to have another site linking to you.

You want to get links from a site that is frequently visited by the search engine spiders. The spiders will crawl the site and find the link to your page.

To find sites that get visited by the spiders frequently, you can view the pagerank of the sites. I will not go into detail about how Google determines pagerank or even what pagerank is for brevity.

You can find the pagerank of a site by either installing the Google toolbar or visiting third party sites such as:

Sites are given pagerank between 0 and 10. A rule of thumb is that you'll want to get links from sites with a pagerank of at least 5. Those sites get visited by the search engine spiders at least once a day.

To get links from sites with pagerank of 5 you can send the webmaster a link exchange request, submit content for their sites or you can take the simple method as outlined below.

Ezinearticles.com is a site where people visit and submit their articles for other publishers to use as content on their sites. You can go there and sign up for free to submit your own articles.

If your articles are approved, then they'll be published on that site and you'll have a link to your sites. If you check the pagerank of Ezinearticles.com, you'll find that it's a pagerank 6 site.

Just recently, Ezinearticles.com has added a commenting feature where you can put comments about any article.

Here's how to comment on any of the more than 150k+ articles in EzineArticles.com's database:

1. Go to http://EzineArticles.com and find an article about something of personal or business interest you want to comment on.

2. Click on the "Comments" link directly under the TITLE of the article.

3. Add your Comment

4. Enter the CAPTCHA code to authenticate you are a human

5. Within a business day or so, your comment will be reviewed by a human editor that is part of their comment management team.

6. You will receive an email after your comment is approved.

Now you can get a link back to your site without having to write an article. Submitting a comment is only suggested if you simply want the spiders to crawl your sites. I still suggest writing and submitting your own articles for the full benefit of one way links to your site.

There are many sites that you can get links from without sending an email to the webmaster and waiting for a reply. You just have to keep your eyes open and be aware of each site's pagerank.

Link Building Strategies That Work

There are a number of ideas about what are the best ways to promote a website and about the best ways to attract more visitors to a website. In my opinion, it is important to start up a link building campaign to increase the number of websites which have a link to your site on their site. This is one proven method which has been successful in achieving high rankings for many different sites, however there are some important factors to keep in mind when attempting to build up this link network.

If you have a new site and are desperate to achieve top rankings on the top search engines such as google, think again. Most of these search engines will probably not give your new site a high ranking until it has become established. This is where the age of the domain is important. You can not in reality expect to be placed in a higher search position than a site which has been around for eight years and which has been building up links, during this period. This is where patience is required, you should see your site as something which is going to be online for a long time and hopefully in time, some of the other sites that you are competing with will have dropped out etc.

This is the same attitude that should be applied when building up the number of backward links pointing to your site. Going from only a few, to a few thousand in a short space of time may not be the best idea. Regular increases are in my opinion the way to go and quality is just as important as quantity. Decide the ways in which you are planning to obtain your backward links and try to ensure that you obtain roughly the same amount each month, where possible of course. Over a long period of time this strategy is sure to pay dividends and your search engine position should steadily improve. You will then have an authority site, which all new sites will be aspiring to compete with. Like many areas of life we do not really want to wait for our success and want immediate rewards, such as high rankings. On some search engines this may be possible but on most it will require hard work and this type of patience.

The links that you obtain should where possible be from sites which are in a similar industry or subject matter, to your own site. This is a lot easier said than done however. If your site is very well written, optimised and of use to a large number of people, you may well receive links on other sites without the need to request the link. This is of course exactly what you want and is why it is important to spend time thinking of how your site is written and presented.

A good way of obtaining a link to your site is to write a reference or testimonial to owners of other sites with which you have had dealings with. Offer to write them this testimonial which of course will be of great benefit to them, on the understanding that they will include a link back to your site at the bottom.

I personally concentrate on obtaining one-way links as I believe these to have the most value. One way I do this is by writing articles such as the one you are reading. There are a great number of benefits of writing articles which can be read at most of the article directories such as ezinearticles. I would certainly recommend it to other people who are thinking of starting up a link building campaign.

How Search Engines Handle Content and Link Strategies in Their Own Way

I’ve just read about “The Lazy Way To Success,” and I found it very appealing. I hope it works and I hope I’ve applied it the right way;

Check this lazy speculation by; searching for an article that you or someone else has written and take this marketplace as a source. (select an article heading - copy it to your search engine and check the results. Do not forget the embrace the article heading with quotes, otherwise the search engine will not deliver it on the first line)''

Than compare the search result. Compare the results with Google on one hand and Yahoo on the other. What you will find is that Google shows the article on the original source (ezinearticles.com) and Yahoo will start showing the article with all other publishing sides. This is a lazy investigation, but by the looks of it, it means.

This:

Yahoo is more prone to offer a link-mechanism; apparently the search engine thought is: if other publishers haven’t published this article, it is probably not good so I don’t have to show it.

Google instead, just mentions the source first, which gives the idea that Google follows a straight content mechanism; content comes first, and is higher rated than those untraceable links...

Just some thought. Please comment on it, show me where this has been explained previously, as I didn’t find it. Or, forget about it. (may be continued...)

How To Use Link Strategy To Get Traffic

The power to generate traffic is simply links. The most powerful technology governing the Internet is hyperlink.

This is the technology that makes it possible for you to browse, download, order, and do all you do online. And this is the technology that drives traffic. When you point links to other sites, you give them traffic, when other sites point to your site, they give you traffic.

A site without links pointing to it cannot get traffic. So the most important traffic strategy is having loads of links pointing to you—the more the merrier. Now, to get pointed at often requires you to point to others. Big sites like EBay, Yahoo, Goggle, and MSN get great traffic because they are great pointers. There are about 100 million eBay users and Yahoo has more than 300 million users making billions of dollars. These big sites are related to loads of other sites through a link of interlocking financial arrangements.

You have to cut other sites into your site. It is a favor for favor thing. Links will always be the most important part of any website promotion campaign. If you want traffic, look for sites to link to and have them link back to you. Let's say you have a site that sells paintings you did on African-American history, then you should develop your site into a shelf where you not only list your paintings but also list other paintings related to African American history and also list essays, books, personal letters, forums, blogs, journals, poems, movies, and even schools related to African American history. Then in return, have them link back to you.

Let say, you have a home business where you stock coffeemakers and sell online, you could link to other sites selling toasters, mixers, freezers, dryers, washing machine, iron, and other sites that relates to coffee. Then in return, have them link back to you. Make sure you don't link to competitors, link to cooperatives, this gives you targeted traffic. Mind you, not all your links are for work; some have to be for play. All work no play makes a failure.

Frankly, you can't really get a lot of traffic with only 1 site. You should build 10 to 50 more and link them all together. And have a resource link exchange page so other relevant sites can link up with you. Do joint ventures. You can make contact with other people who can give you referrals or refer you to their associates and friends.

Truly, the strength of your sites is determined by the strength of your links. But ask this: who will link to you? It is not as easy or as simple as it sound. If you don't have traffic, who will want to link to you in the first place? You will write to load of sites and they won't even reply you. Like a man said, "I hate linking. It is such a hassle. Many of the link requests that I do get are from poker or porno sites that are totally irrelevant to my site's content. Most of the sites that I would like to link to don't respond. Some sites supposedly do respond, but when I search their sites, I can't find my link anywhere. It is just so totally and completely frustrating."

Is Your Link Building Campaign a Roadmap?

So, you have been writing articles, submitting to high quality directories and using other quality link building strategies. Great! Are you making it obvious to the search engines however? All of your link building efforts could be easily noticed and devalued by the search engines.

Search engines exist to give searchers the best possible results. They use complicated algorithms to rank sites. One important factor in these rankings is links. Their logic is that if another webmaster links to a site, it must be of some value. The more links pointing to the site, the more value gets assigned to it. Search Engine Optimizers (SEOs) know this and they begin linking campaigns to get the most links they can. What they do not know is search engines could be catching on to these artificial link building schemes.

SEOs find the appropriate category in directories, submit the site, its description and URL (address) then move on to the next one. They find a linking partner, give him/her the site title, URL and its description and move on. They write articles and include the same About the Author section for each article. Their goal is quantity. The problem is the SEOs are making it easy for the search engines to see that he/she is artificially link building and devalue those links. How? Search engines detect the exact same anchor text and description for every link.

In a world with no SEO or artificial link building, each and every link to a website would be different because every webmaster is a different person. In no possible way could twenty different people think of the same exact anchor text when linking to a site. So in our world, its easy for the search engines to spot artificial link building. However, there are two ways to fix this problem:

1. Create a slightly different description and anchor text for every single link you ask for. This gives the illusion that you are not artificially link building.

2. If you really believe in your site you can never ask for another link. This may seem off the deep end, but there is logic to it. With this method, you still will receive links, but for a different reason. You have to create a site with such good content and so frequently updated that everyone will feel obligated to link to you. Become a leader in your industry. This method worked for many sites. Try it for yourself, although it does require a vast amount of hard work. This is the method search engines want. People will link to you because you are a great resource. Every link will be different. Successfully using this method you will see a boost in the rankings and traffic as well.

Do not leave a roadmap of your SEO efforts for the search engines to find. Your efforts should look like natural links. You can go as far as to not have a link building campaign. Whichever option you choose, work hard at it, you will see results in the search engine rankings, traffic or both.

The SEO Benefits Of Interlinking All Your Web Pages

Many webmasters spend a lot of time optimizing their home page only. They do this by optimizing onpage factors like H1 tags, title, keyword density, alt tags, etc, and offpage factors like the number and quality of inward links from other sites. That's fine and is something you should definitely do, but you should also take some time to optimize all of your inner web pages as well.

This is because if you can get a good pagerank for all of your inner pages, as well as your home page, it increases the chances of these pages being ranked highly in the search engines for their chosen keywords, and increases the number of visitors you could get.

So how do you achieve this? Well firstly I recommend that all of your main web pages are just one click away from your home page. You should have a well-structured navigation menu on your home page. Each link within the menu should be an anchor text link containing your main keyword(s). For example, let's say you had an inner page about hair loss. Now you may have done keyword research and found the term “hair loss” to be too competitive, so let's say you have decided to optimize your web page for the less competitive term “male hair loss”. In this example, your link from the navigation menu should be “male hair loss” rather than “hair loss”.

You can dramatically enhance this interlinking structure and boost the pagerank of your inner web pages further by including this navigation menu on all of your inner web pages. This means that all of your main inner web pages are always just one click away and will dramatically boost the number of inward links that each page has. This can be very powerful because with higher pagerank and more links comes higher search engine rankings, but surprisingly is something that many so-called SEO experts fail to recognise.

Another way of achieving this effect if you do not want to include a navigation menu on every page is by including a link tree on every one of your inner pages. These are those links that you often find at the bottom of pages, and are again a very good way of interlinking your web pages. As before, be sure to include your main keyword(s) within each link.

I personally include a left-hand navigation menu on all of my websites, as well as a link tree at the bottom of each web page. This ensures not only that each page of each site has the maximum number of internal inward links, which boosts my pagerank and search engine rankings, but also ensures that the visitors to the site are always just one click away from each main page of the site. This is important if they enter at one of your inner pages, because often they will then want to navigate to the home page.

To conclude, to rank highly in the search engines, you should focus on on-page optimization, and more so off-page optimization. Just as every inward link to your site from another website acts as a vote for your site, and boosts your pagerank and search engine rankings, a link from another page within your site also acts as a vote and will also have a positive effect on your ranking. A good interlinking structure within your site will ensure that every page is fully optimized and has the optimum number of links from your other pages allowing you to rank higher for all of your inner pages as well as your home page.
